Wordpress is currently the most popular website platform choice and with good reason. More companies are turning to this fantastic website management system because it looks great, it is easy to use, and it has so many features on offer.
To improve your online marketing, you may want to consider the following benefits of having a Wordpress website:
Anyone can use it
Wordpress is designed to be simple and it really is. You can create, edit and remove pages at the click of the button. Navigating around the WordPress management area has never been easier. The interface is laid out so even a computer novice can create new content.
You can use it anywhere in the world
Wordpress can be accessed and used on any device, from your laptop to your smartphone or tablet. This means you can update it when you need to, even if you’re on the go. No other platform offers accessibility like this.
Google loves Wordpress
Search engines like Google and Bing love this platform because Wordpress structures its websites and content well. Wordpress sites are more likely to be updated frequently, too, which helps improve your search rankings.
The platform is constantly updated
There are thousands of web designers and developers out there continuously working on the Wordpress platform. This means the platform is never growing tired or old, as new features are constantly being added. Investing in this platform is a long-term investment as opposed to other platforms that need to be constantly replaced.
You have so many features at your disposal
Does your homepage need video content? Want a call-to-action on that service page? The beauty of Wordpress is that there are thousands of plugins available to you. You can dictate what you want your site to look like and how it acts. Best of all, Wordpress websites are all mobile-adaptive, meaning they provide fluid content viewing on any device.

Think about the most distinctive brands in the world - businesses like McDonalds, Nike and Coca Cola. What makes them memorable is less to do with the burgers, trainers and soft drinks that they sell, and more to do with their recognisable branding.
Wherever you see the golden arches, you know there's a McDonalds nearby; a tick signifies Nike and Coca Cola's red and white logo is unmissable - and these consistent brands indicate quality and reliability to consumers. So how do you achieve a recognisable brand, and why does your business need one?
Hire a designer to create a brand
When you're looking to create a recognisable brand, you'll need more than just a logo. You'll also need specific colours, fonts and style guidelines to keep everything on brand. If you're opening a cafe, you'll need menus that are on brand. Other businesses may need materials such as letterheads, business cards or leaflets.
It's an important task and you need to make sure it's done right, so make sure you hire someone experienced and knowledgeable.
Make it distinctive
Work with a graphic design company to create a logo first, then build your brand around that. It's fine to take inspiration from other businesses in the field, but make sure your brand is distinct from your competitors so that consumers can easily differentiate.
Don't let your brand slip
Whether it's your web design or your storefront signage, everything needs to be in keeping with the brand that you've created - and that doesn't just mean how it looks. If you're sending out press releases, agree on a house style for those too, and ensure the language in all of your communication is consistent. You won't find so much as an 'out of order' sign in McDonalds that isn't on brand, and that's what you should strive to achieve.

There are many benefits to running an eCommerce site, either in tandem with, or instead of, a bricks and mortar business. But when it comes to web design for your eCommerce site there are a lot of things to consider. Here are the three most essential elements of successful eCommerce web design.
1. Easy navigation
Arguably the most vital element of your eCommerce site's web design is the navigation. Good navigation that is easily understood will enable your customers to find everything they're looking for quickly and without effort. If, on the other hand, you have poor navigation and your customers are frustrated by the effort it takes to find things, they will abandon your site without ever making a purchase.
But what exactly constitutes easy navigation? Central to good website navigation is the notion of presenting a clear path for your shoppers to follow, that takes them from the landing page directly to checkout. Regardless of the page your shopper lands on, there must always be a clear path to lead them to the products and services they require, followed by a swift and simple checkout procedure. The majority of the time, this entails presenting the most crucial items, categories, and pages in your site's main navigation, while placing items of lesser importance on drop-down menus or elsewhere on the site.
2. Responsive compatibility
As mobile shopping continues to rise, the need for a responsive site that effectively functions on all devices and any screen size is increasingly important. You need to be conscious of the manner in which your site will appear on various devices and sizes of screen, and always ensure that it is optimised to function as seamlessly as possible, regardless of the device your customers are using.
A responsive design will automatically scale your site's design to fit the screen or device upon which it is being viewed. It's now standard for websites to have this functionality, and it's expected of you. Your store needs to look great and work perfectly on every device. This element is only going to grow more vital as mobile shopping continues to rise. It's far easier to build responsiveness into your site as it's being designed than it is to try and transform an existing site into a fully responsive one, while maintaining all of your design elements.
3. Fast loading time
Here's a terrifying statistic: around 40% of shoppers abandon websites that take too long to load. The magic number? Three seconds. That's all you have.
If your page isn't fully loaded within three seconds, 40 percent of your customers will go elsewhere. A slow site will have a massive impact on your bounce rate and profits. Ensuring your web design is as fast as possible is vital.

Nearly everyone uses the Internet every day. Sounds a bit far-fetched? 82% of adults in the UK went on the Internet daily in 2016 (ONS data). In the same year 77% of adults bought goods or services online (ONS data). A vast audience waiting to be reached!
Turning opportunity into success
Expanding your business growth can be done in multiple ways but using the Internet is often neglected. A website that is collecting cyber-dust won’t direct Internet traffic your way. LS25 web design can help by creating you a unique, professional and accessible website tailored to your needs.
As we have become more Internet savvy we have learned to scan read websites and all of this can be done in 15 seconds (Tony Haile, Chartbeat) after which most of us will leave ‘bad’ websites. We understand that clients give more credibility to websites that look professional. Create a first impression that lasts with your client by having a professional website.
Open All Hours
Even when you’re not working your website can be working for you. By having a website that has been carefully designed to suit your needs you can refer customers to FAQs, view products and services and take sales orders. Crucially, this will make your business more appealing to customers in different time zones reaching a farther and wider audience than you could have expected without a website.
And In First Place We Have…
Making your website stand out from the crowd can seem an impossible task but search engine optimisation (SEO) will gain you visibility. Through relevant links, fresh content and a strong brand presence online you help Google and other search engines to find you easily which will push you higher up the web rankings which can expand your sales market further.
Knowing You, Knowing Me
Wouldn’t you like to know more about your customers? Google Analytics can collect data on your clients such as geographic location and search history within your website. Using this data will allow you to gain a deeper insight into your client and help you with to tailor your products and services. After all, “a satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all” (Michael LeBoeuf).

Have a website? Not getting many visitors to it? Here are three simple tips that you can implement today that will help drive more targeted traffic to your site.
Know What Keywords You Are Targeting
Choosing which keywords to target is the foundation of all search engine optimisation. Choose your keywords well and you will have a strong foundation to building up some nice, targeted traffic to your website. Choose poorly, and you’ll have an uphill battle to rank for keywords that won’t provide any decent traffic or value to your business.
Keyword selection is all about choosing your battles carefully. If you are a local plumbing company, one of the things you may think that you want to rank for is ‘boiler installation’. Realistically though, you’ll find this almost impossible to get anywhere near page one because there is so much competition from the big companies such as British Gas. Even if you did, you’d have enquiries coming in from all over the UK that you couldn’t cope with.
A much better idea is to try to rank for more niche terms, known as longtail keywords. These are searched less often but are much more specific. They are easier to rank for and also generally convert better too. So taking our plumbing example, instead of trying to rank for ‘boiler installation’, it would be much more prudent and easier to create pages such as ‘boiler installation Manchester’, ‘boiler installation Bolton’, and ‘boiler installation Stockport’ for example and rank for those terms if your plumbing company was in the Greater Manchester area.
Get Your On-Site SEO Right
You may have heard of terms like ‘on-site SEO’ and ‘technical SEO’ and think that this must be something really complicated. It really isn’t. On-site SEO is all about making your website friendly to both Google and your customer. This involves giving your page a logical structure so that Google can understand what your page is about (and what it should be ranking you for) and ensuring your customer does what you want them to do (eg. sign up for a quote, purchase an item etc). The big part of this is to ensure that you utilise your titles and paragraph headings (H tags) in a logical way.
Your content on the page should be ultra-relevant to the keywords that you are targeting for your page. You may want to utilise some of these in your H2 - H6 titles but what you shouldn’t do is ‘keyword stuff’. This is where you blatantly place the keywords you are trying to rank for throughout your content. Google can pick up on this and it could harm your rankings. What is much better is to write more naturally. So if one of the terms you are trying to rank for us ‘boiler installation Manchester’, you may also include phrases such as ‘new boiler installation in Manchester’, ‘Manchester boiler replacement’ and ‘Manchester boiler installers’. Not only is this more natural than keep repeating the same phrase over and over again, it should help you rank for a broader range of terms, thus increasing traffic.
Build Some Backlinks
Building backlinks is perhaps the most difficult part of driving more traffic to your website. It’s also a very effective one so it may be worthwhile asking for the help of a pro. The reason is, only good quality and relevant backlinks will help your site rank better and drive more traffic to your website. Building backlinks is essentially done by reaching out to other websites and asking for a link. Usually, this is done by writing a guest blog for them for example or providing them with value in some other way. You’ll find that there are lots of services offering to build backlinks for you very cheaply, but these will only harm your efforts to increase traffic to your website. The types of links these sorts of services build are poor quality and put you at a significant risk of a Google penalty or even being de indexed altogether.
SEO is not a quick fix but by taking steps like these, you can over time significantly increase the amount of traffic to your website. If you’d like help with your SEO or any other aspect of web design, get in touch today and we’ll be happy to talk to you how we can help you.
Digital has completely transformed the way in which marketplaces work. Where a decade ago your shop was the core of your business, now your website is your shop front, with over 80% of people making online shopping part of their everyday life. As a result of this digital transformation, small businesses need to keep up to date with digital marketing trends to stay ahead of the game and to succeed. One easy way of doing this is by implementing an online marketing strategy.
This article outlines how key essentials of online marketing can be simply implemented but make a big difference to your business's ROI and success story.
Engaging web design
With over one billion websites currently registered, it is crucial that your website is cleverly designed to engage with your customers. Just as you would ensure a shop stands out and is carefully laid out, your website also requires similar thought processes. You really don’t have long to convince your customers that your website is where they need to be.
A well-designed website that has been built on an easy to manage and cost-effective CMS such as WordPress, affords small businesses great opportunities. What web design offers is the chance for you to not only communicate who you are as a company, but the style and tone of your website can be designed precisely to connect with a specific internet user; your customer.
Content, content, content
For a small business, any online marketing strategy would be hugely lacking without the insertion and upkeep of regular quality content. A carefully planned content marketing strategy can be critical for businesses today. From leveraging SEO rankings to providing social content and giving the ‘you’ in your business a voice, content marketing can heavily impact all strands of your online marketing. And the bonus? Writing and sharing content (in-house) via blogs can prove to be a very cost-effective solution indeed!
It must be remembered though, that every single piece of content should be written for a specific goal; this could be to focus on one set keyword, to share some news on social, or even to answer a specific question that your customers keep asking.
Social media is a very powerful online marketing tool. Not only can it be - when used well - extremely cheap, but it provides a unique space for SMEs to reach out to their local communities and customer bases and connect in a very human and very real way. This allows customers to not only engage with you on a deeper and more meaningful level (which will build brand loyalty and customer retention), but it also allows for a marketing channel with potentially huge reach.
So there you have it, three simple ways that online marketing can help your small business succeed.

Founded in 2003 as a blogging platform, Wordpress is now used to power around 75 million websites worldwide. This equates to 27.3% of all websites (as at February 2017).
There are a number of reasons why so many web designers choose Wordpress as their preferred platform for building their client's websites on and in this article I highlight why we love Wordpress and why it's our CMS of choice for our customers.
Wordpress has been around for some time now and as a platform, over that time, it has grown into a mature, reliable solution for building your website on. You can expect a bug free experience when using Wordpress. This has resulted in some of the biggest companies and high traffic websites being built on the platform. Examples of such sites include Forbes.com, Techcrunch.com and Time.com.
It's Open Source
Wordpress is an open source platform which means it is free to use. This means the we do not have to build into our design fees any additional cost for our customers for their CMS (Content Management System).
It's SEO Friendly
Wordpress has highly effective search engine optimisation features baked in and there are also additional plugins available to further enhance your website's search engine performance.
Scalability and vast plugin ecosystem
The platform offers a great foundation for your website and will allow it to evolve as it needs to, thanks largely to the vast array of plugins that are available on the platform. This means that we can build complex website functionality, that would normally have required web development skills, without the need to code them from scratch.
This again means that we can build these complex websites at a fraction of the cost that they would have been traditionally.
Wordpress is easy to use
Wordpress is a theme based CMS platform and therefore, when we build websites on Wordpress, we consider the end user experience for our customers. This is why we often use themes that allow you to make tweaks to the website via drag and drop functionality.
The ease of use is also part of the reason for our competitive pricing.
So, these are just some of the reasons why we have elected to use Wordpress to power our customer websites. If you would like to find out more about how we can build you a great website on Wordpress, don't hesitate to get in touch.
