As you can probably tell from our name, here at LS25 we are really proud of where we live. We’re always keen to support our local community which is why we are already proud sponsors of Garforth Town Football Club and Garforth in Bloom. We also have 2 young boys who are mad about football, so of course we were thrilled when we were given the opportunity to sponsor the upcoming Garforth Charity Football Match which is being held to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Make a Wish Foundation.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a sophisticated emergency service that provides state-of-the-art emergency medical care throughout Yorkshire. The swift medical interventions provided by the Air Ambulance crews have a major impact on a patient's chance of survival and subsequent quality of life. However, to keep both of Yorkshire's air ambulances in the air they need to raise £12,000 per day.
The Make a Wish Foundation grant magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. They go above and beyond to grant very special wishes to very special children; making their dreams a reality at a time when they need it most.
The Garforth Charity Football Match is a great way to support these amazing charities and have a great day out at the same time! The match will take place on Sunday 16th April at Garforth Town Football Club with a Pro-Celebs team taking on Yorkshire Ambulance and Air Ambulance staff.
Celebrities who are already signed up to play include actors Liam Bairstow (Coronation street) and Dean Smith (Waterloo Road) , former boxer Paul 'Silky' Jones, former professional footballers Dean Windass and Andy Campbell, Masterchef finalist Matt Healy and Mr Burton and Mr Mitchell from Educating Yorkshire. Lizzie Jones will also be attending to give the winning team their trophy and medals.
As well as the match there will be lots to do for all the family including a raffle, tombola, mega slide, cake stall, face painting, sand art, emergency vehicles, owls and more.
If you are local, please do come along and show your support for a great event. We are really proud to be helping in a small way to support the amazing work of the Air Ambulance and the Make a Wish Foundation, and we’d love for the event to be a great success. Tickets are £5 for adults and £1 for under 15s. You can pay on the day or email firstname.lastname@example.org to buy tickets.
